Telugu is a Dravidian language mostly spoken in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, where it is the official language. It is also spoken in the state of Tamil Nadu where it enjoys a secondary language status. It is also spoken in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Telugu language has a history of over 3000 years. Including non-native speakers it is the most spoken Dravidian language and the most spoken language in India after Hindi and Bengali. It was conferred the status of a Classical language by the Government of India.
